MARYS LANE
The story...

The formation of "a band" was first hinted at in conversations between Pat, Michael, and Mark under the Harp Tent of the Cleveland Irish Cultural Festival in July 2008. Although a promising idea, the idea quickly departed our minds due to scattered geographic locations and personal disconnects. Luckily, we found ourselves under the very same tent exactly one year later discussing forming a band - again. This time we did not let the drunken notion pass us by. We had our first rehearsal the following week and as they say...the rest is history.

Our first performance as Marys Lane came on St. Stephen's Day in December of 2009. We since have played over 180 shows throughout Ohio, the Midwest, and Eastern United States.

The name is an actual road and homage to a special place on Achill Island in County Mayo, Ireland where women by the name of Mary were seen aplenty - which included Patrick's great-granny (yes... Mary). We wish you well and hope to share a pint with you someday soon...

-Vocals, Guitar, Bagpipes

Michael has spent a majority of his life performing music, from bagpipes and drums to Celtic Rock. His love for the music and culture inspires him, and his ambition to pack houses, pubs and festival tents was the driving force behind putting Marys Lane together. Crawley also teaches bagpipes and drums and, yes, he HAS in fact heard that song by Ozzy Osbourne...

-Vocals, Guitar

After performing in many of the West of Ireland's finest pubs, discos, and abandoned homes; the urge to bring the feeling of those nights home became overwhelming. Aside from writing and performing in Marys Lane, Mulloy spent many years marching with the Cleveland West Side Irish-American Club Jr. Fife & Drum Unit. He is a Kent State University graduate.

-Drums

Mark provides a foot-stomping/ handclapping style that compliments and enriches the band. He also plays with two Cleveland-based competitive bagpipe bands: 87th Cleveland Pipes and Drums and The Great Lakes Pipe Band. The passion and love of the music and the Irish culture makes being a part of this adventure that much sweeter!

-Fiddle

Paul has been playing fiddle since he was 9 years old. He graduated from Cleveland State University where his musical studies included viola performance, history, education, theory, and harmony. An extremely versatile musician, he has played everything from early to modern music, and enjoys playing Classical, Celtic, and everything in between. Paul has written over 500 Celtic inspired folk dance pieces to date.

-Bass

Born and raised in Northeast Ohio, Matt has played bass in a number of different acts throughout the Cleveland area and also with projects at Ohio University in Athens. Incorporating a broad knowledge of different styles, Matt's energy and naturalness on stage is easily felt at every Marys Lane performance. Matt hails from Brunswick, Ohio and looks to showcase his craft at every show.
